The Background of the Hit Show Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is one of the biggest and most popular series available currently. It is showing on live television and fans can also watch Game of Thrones online. It was created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. The series of fantasy books called A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin is the literary influence of Game of Thrones. The showed premiered on HBO back in April of 2011. Filming of the show is on location in places like Ireland, Iceland, Morocco, Malta and Croatia, as well as a Belfast studio. The popularity of the show got it a fourth season renewal for the year 2014.

The story is set in fictional regions called Essos and Westeros. A summer season that lasted a decade is finally over. There are plenty of plot lines and characters involved. One of these stories is about the noble family members from different houses. They are involved in a civil war, fighting over the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. The second story line revolves around harmful creatures from the North. A third plot revolves around a scion who was exiled and now wants to claim the Iron Throne.

The complex story of Games of Throne contains characters with questionable moral values. The theme includes religion, corruption, war, criminal activities and social status.

Many of the viewers are fans from different countries. These fans come from different places and have diverse backgrounds from their age to their cultures. Critics also love the show and continue to give it positive reviews. Due to the violent and sexual content of Game of Thrones, there have been controversies involved.
 
Game of Thrones won several awards and was nominated for others. The Emmy Awards gave Game of Thrones an Outstanding Drama nomination. The Hugo Awards also granted it a nomination for Best Dramatic Presentations and also a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series. One of its actors, Peter Dinklage, managed to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Dinklage also received the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe Award.

Back in July of 2010, the photography for the first season begun. Paint Hall Studios in Belfast was where the show was filmed. For scenes filmed outside, different locations in Ireland were used such as Tollymore Forest, Shane's Castle and Castle Ward. Ireland wasn't the first choice because the producers were first thinking of filming in Scotland. Northern Ireland was eventually the choice instead of Scotland, thanks to the studio space the crew could utilize.

The show and its first several episodes was made available for fans in the first quarter of 2012 in DVD and Blu-ray sets. These sets included behind-the-scenes material. Hundreds of thousands of copies were sold, making the show the best-seller for an HBO show during its first week of sales. A dragon's egg paperweight was included in a special edition box set. Aside from purchasing the box sets, fans can also watch games of thrones episode 2.
